Is It Safe To Visit the Dentist During COVID-19?

The simple answer is YES!

As we all know and have experienced by now, the novel Coronavirus pandemic has left an unprecedented amount of uncertainty in its path. It has singlehandedly managed to raise the levels of anxiety around partaking in activities that –were this any other time– would be considered ordinary. That being said, it is important to remember that while the Coronavirus is of great concern at this time, it does not mean that we should neglect other aspects of our health that are essential in maintaining our overall wellbeing.

Here’s the Deal

Visiting the dentist at least once a year is a crucial part of looking after ourselves. Failing to care for our oral health can lead to a variety of issues that can increase the risk of developing medical problems such as gum disease, especially if you have been diagnosed with other severe conditions. Infections are the biggest concern when it comes to gum disease, as the bacteria could enter the bloodstream causing:

  • Strokes
  • Respiratory issues
  • Kidney problems
  • Other severe complications

Many people have delayed their visits during the pandemic even when experiencing pain and swelling, allowing the issue to escalate and worsen. We ask that you do not wait until the symptoms are unbearable, as this could make treatment more challenging. If you have a safety concern, please rest assured that we are taking the necessary measures and following all recommended protocols to keep our patients and staff safe.

Your Safety Is Our Priority

As has been the case, even before the pandemic occurred, your safety is our top priority. In addition to our standard sanitizing procedures, we have implemented enhanced personal protective equipment, daily office cleanings by our professional custodial staff, rigorous work station sterilization after each patient, regular employee testing and symptom monitoring, and recommended social distancing guidelines.

If you have any further concerns or would like to know more about the measures we are currently taking to combat the spread of the COVID-19, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have. We must remember that preventative oral care is not just beneficial to our gums or teeth but to our entire body as well. Proper dental hygiene has the potential to prevent other more serious conditions from developing.

It is recommended that you come in for an oral exam and checkup at least twice a year, or every six months to be more exact. During your visit, we will check for any new or ongoing issues you may be experiencing. Depending on your specific dental needs, we may recommend that you come in more often. We also offer in-office teeth cleaning to help remove plaque and calculus and help prevent teeth decay, gum disease, and other issues. We encourage you to visit our Plantation dentist and Tamarac dentist locations. Our expert staff is eager to work with you to improve your oral health and give you the stunning smile you have always wanted.
